Swedish massage

Swedish massage is the model that comes to mind when most people think about massage. It combines various hands on techniques including gliding, kneading, stretching, friction and cross fibre friction to break up muscle knots called adhesions.

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles.

Swedish massage is a gentle rhythmic massage administered to relax soft body tissue and facilitate healing. It is lighter in touch than other forms of massage and includes long flowing stokes across the back, stimulating circulation, then massage of the arms, neck and shoulders.

Swedish massage is perfect for loosening stiff joints and reducing muscle tension – so come in and treat yourself to a session after or before a hard day’s work and feel revitalised and refreshed!

Reflexology

Reflexology has been around for many years and was first used in the Middle Eastern continents; it was introduced to the western world during the early 1900’s.

Reflexology is a natural healing art, based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet and hands which correspond to every part of the body.

Through application of pressure on particular areas of the hands and/or feet, reflexology serves to relax tension, improve circulation and promote the natural function of the related area in the body.

This unique massaging method is used by the reflexologist on the hands and feet to bring the client back to an optimal balance of mental and physical wellbeing. Recent scientific studies have been carried out on the effectiveness of reflexology as a treatment to help relieve pain and stress related conditions.

An effective and relaxing session  can be used to reduce stress, improve blood circulation, stimulate function of the nerves, improve the immune system, increase your level of energy and help in the recovery after surgery.

Deep tissue massage

Our deep tissue massage or if you are in a rush, ‘our walk in’ chair massage are designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Some of the techniques are similar to swedish massage but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Deep tissue massage is usually recommended for people who experience constant pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes) and people who have sustained physical injury.

When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are normally adhesions (bands of painful tissue) in muscles, tendons and ligaments. These can block circulation and cause pain, limit movement and inflammation. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the therapist often uses direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles.

Deep tissue massage shouldn’t hurt, but it’s likely to be a little more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish massage, usually the therapist will only use their hand and forearm, however with a deep tissue massage, elbows and fingers may be used for optimal penetration of the muscle.

Feel free to speak up if the pressure is too much for you. A deep tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating and the body functioning properly.

Chair Massage

This fiften-minute massage includes the back, shoulders, neck, arms, hands ad head – targeting all the areas most susceptabe to tension and affected by long hours at a desk or computer.

Relaxing Massage and Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is defined as the art and science of utilising naturally extracted aromatic essences to balance, harmonise and promote the health of mind, body and soul.

Aromatherapy is an individual form of healing which involves using aromatherapy essential oils (such as lavender, peppermint or geranium) to treat the entire person rather than just addressing the symptoms.

Aromatherapy and relaxing massage is the alternative therapeutic technique which combines the natural properties of the essential oils and the healing power of massage therapy. This type of massage promotes great relaxation and is a rejuvenating experience.

When the mind is stressed, we feel ill at ease with ourselves and in time this can affect the body. This state can have many causes i.e. pressure of work, incorrect diet, relationships, family, fear of the future, finances, and these are just a few.

The massage, which helps relieve tension, will drain lymph fluid and improve circulation; it will also help to rejuvenate the body, removing aches and pains and generally promote balanced good health. When the body is balanced, problems seem to disappear. So come and try our relaxing massage and the aromatherapy experience!

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage a therapeutic massage technique that focuses on the head, face, neck, upper-arms, and shoulders.

During an Indian Head Massage, the therapist will use a series of gentle massage strokes to ease both mental and physical stress and tension in their patients by stimulating nerves, loosening muscles, and relaxing tissues.

An Indian Head Massage will relieve tension, pains, fatigue, sinusitis, and headaches, and help calm the mind. It can also increase circulation to the brain, aid relaxation, and improve hair and scalp conditions.

It is therefore highly beneficial to patients with stress and tension-related disorders. Our clients have reported that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is massage therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs.

It is also called pre-natal massage. The mother’s body must be properly positioned and supported during the massage, using pillows and padding.

Proper positioning ensures comfort and safety for the mother and baby. Also, some massage techniques, such as deep tissue work, cannot be used.

Certain areas of the body should be avoided during pregnancy. Pregnancy massage has been found to reduce stress, decrease swelling in the arms and legs, and relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints. It’s a popular complementary therapy during pregnancy for back pain, when choices for pain relief, such as medication, are often limited.

Not only can massage be physically beneficial, but the human touch can be comforting and provide emotional support during pregnancy. Massage therapy has been found to reduce anxiety and depression.

We have a therapist who is highly qualified in pregnancy massage so do come and have a relaxing and pampering session! Massage to be used only after the first trimester please.

Hot stone massage

Hot stone massage involves the application of water heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body.

This gives a deep massage and creates a sensation of comfort and warmth. It restores and rejuvenates the body at its deepest level.

The principle behind the hot stone therapy is that the direct heat of the stones relaxes muscles, allowing the therapist access to their deeper muscle layers. Physically the circulation and metabolism are stimulated; mentally the client reaches a state of deep relaxation and spiritually is balanced while healing takes place.

The warmth of these heated stones penetrates muscles and restores the nervous system like no other treatments. Combining a hot stone procedure with a full Hot stone therapy is indeed a delightful experience; it can be helpful in your stress management as well as physical and mental tension.

Honey Massage

We use organic runny honey for our honey massages. Honey is applied to the treated area and then the therapist uses special massage technique. Therapist’s hands become very sticky and the skin is pulled a bit. This is a strange but quite pleasant sensation. After the treatment the skin is cleaned with hot towels, dried and anti-cellulite cream is applied. You will also enjoy fantastic smell of honey during this massage. The skin is very soft and toned.
